Working on Heaven’s bridge: Stern takes vital role in construction of world’s tallest road bridge
Stern Hidráulica S.A took an active part in the construction of the Millau viaduct, making cylinders ordered by ENERPAC used both to launch the bridge outward and to set down its pillars. Basically, the firm supplied more than 250 cylinders of five different types needed to build this stunning work of engineering.

At 343 metres high and 2,460 metres long, Millau is the world’s tallest bridge. Built in just three years, this superbridge, resting on seven arrow-shaped pillars, links the Paris- Côte Azure route through the Massif Central. French engineer Michel Virlogeux and British architect Norman Foster are the two men responsible for this remarkably elegant piece of architecture.
